Paul is
currently Senior Fellow and Executive Director at Verizon,
leading a team of researchers and developers building a hosted
communications services platform. This infrastructure is the
basis for new service creation for products such
as iobi: web
access to PSTN call control, VoiceWing: a residential VoIP
serivce, FiOS Voice, and more recently the Verizon
Hub. The team also launched a metro scale WiFi network in
Manhattan.
Prior to joining Verizon, he worked at Microsoft Corp. and Firefly Network Inc.. While at Microsoft, Paul served as a lead Software Development Engineer and later as Program Manager for the Microsoft Passport, managing security and privacy design, and winning the Bill Gates Ship It award for the first release of Passport. He acted as technical contributor on privacy issues on the W3C privacy group for Microsoft and helped define privacy aspects of IE6.0. He also led the development of an on-line marketplace for ad placements on the Microsoft bCentral small-business portal. As a lead software developer at Firefly Network, Paul delivered the first version of the Firefly Tools, a recommender and personalization system, on barnesandnoble.com. He later helped negotiate a first set of privacy standards between Netscape, VeriSign, and Firefly Network. A graduate of Dartmouth College in Computer Science, he brings over 20 years of experience in the areas of product innovation, software development, and program management. |
